Track extension creates better connection between quay and rail at Port of Aalborg’s multi-terminal

A 240-metre track extension at Port of Aalborg’s multi-terminal means that it’s now even easier for companies to combine different modes of transport.

Two parallel railway tracks now support freight transport to and from the Port of Aalborg’s multi-terminal, offering companies both short and medium-term agreements on fortified storage close to the quay.

This is the result of a track extension of as much as 240 meters, which has just been put into service. Like the existing track, these are rail tracks with asphalt paving between, which makes it easier to handle loose goods.

The track extension follows this year’s 17,000 square meter multi-terminal expansion, which now holds 47,000 square meters of fortified land.

– The track extension further strengthens our multimodal setup at the multi-terminal, making it even easier for our customers to combine different modes of transport and optimize logistics. This is the path demand is going, and we continuously work to support this development, says Commercial Manager at Port of Aalborg, Rasmus Munk Kolind.

Port of Aalborg has invested in railway infrastructure in recent years. Today, it has six terminal areas, giving customers free access to the handling of goods 24 hours a day.
